Our client, a growing and well-established professional services organization, is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join their team. This is an excellent temp-to-permanent opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has extensive experience processing high-volume, multi-state payrolls.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll compliance, tax regulations, deductions, garnishments, and employee data management, along with hands-on experience utilizing ADP Workforce Now or Paylocity. Upon successful conversion to a permanent employee, there may be an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, based on performance and business needs.
Position Overview
The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large, multi-state employee population. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage payroll from start to finish while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume, multi-state payroll on a weekly, bi-weekly, and/or semi-monthly basis.
- Ensure payroll accuracy, including wages, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity within the payroll system.
- Process employee status changes, new hires, terminations, promotions, and compensation adjustments.
- Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax requirements.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Coordinate with HR, Accounting, and Benefits teams regarding payroll-related matters.
- Process wage garnishments, child support orders, levies, and other deductions.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and audits.
- Support payroll reporting and provide analysis as needed.
- Stay current on payroll regulations and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll administration experience in a high-volume environment.
- Proven experience processing multi-state payroll for a large employee population.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements across multiple states.
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or Paylocity.
- Experience managing payroll discrepancies, audits, garnishments, and tax-related issues.
- Advanced attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
